It was a relatively quiet week as teams prepare for their league showdowns, but in a Pa. showdown No. 17 North Allegheny faces off with No. 42 Gateway. A look at the Top 50 High School Football teams in the country.

Manatee had a week off to prepare for Southeast, and the Hurricanes took care of business. Braden River should pose no challenge to the nation's No. 1 team.

Trinity took care of an improving St. Xavier team in a 34-7 win at Papa John's Stadium. The Shamrocks should roll this week in an away game against DuPont Manual.

Byrnes jumped to an early lead against Spartanburg and let off before winning 49-7. A contest against Riverside should be an opportunity to get a lot of younger player some snaps.

St. Ignatius put up an impressive 35-7 win on Glenville. The Wildcats were happy to be home after back to back trips to Pennsylvania. John Adams has won three in a row, but that streak should end on Saturday.

The Broncos jumped to a 42-0 lead before getting some younger players in the game to coast to a 42-6 win over Palisades last week. Vista Murrieta likely won't be challenged this week either.

Lincoln posted one of the most impressive outings in the Top 20 with a big win over a solid Rickards team. The Trojans should handle a trip to Buchholz as well.

Those cupcakes Camden County had been feasting on must have been low cal, because the Wildcats stayed lean and mean as they opened up region play with a blowout at Valdosta. Camden stays home against a good Coffee team this week.

McGill-Toolen took on the challenge of back to back tough road games. First with a win against Davidson, and last week handling Daphne. No rest for the weary though as Blount brings a 4-1 record to the Yellow Jackets this week.

Washington is rolling after an early loss to Miami Central, and the Tornadoes should roll to the playoffs with their toughest games seemingly behind them.

Biggest news of the weekend for Dwyer, someone finally got on the board. The Panthers need to beef up their schedule.

Hoover took on and took out its biggest challenge to date with an impressive 35-15 win over rival Vestavia Hills. A home date with Bessemer City should provide an easier game for the Bucs.

Narbonne has knocked off two of the CIF-Southern Section's Top 10 teams in back to back weeks. First it was Serra, and last week the Gauchos hung Mater Dei's first loss on the Monarchs. Narbonne should cruise through the City-Section until they face off with Crenshaw.

Carmel (7-0) Carmel, IN

Carmel had been impressive much of the season but hadn't been tested in the last month. A victory at Warren Central helped propel the Greyhounds into the Top 50. A showdown on 10/12 with Ben Davis will help determine if they get to stay.
