Castro makes pick

Butler landed another perimeter target when Rene Castro made his decision.

Brad Stevens and the Butler Bulldogs wanted to add some athleticism to the backcourt through their 2013 class, and they did it with Rene Castro. The Worcester (Mass.) Academy product picked the Bulldogs on Saturday evening over significant interest from Duquesne, George Washington, and Boston University.

At 6-foot-3, Castro is capable of playing either guard spot, and has the athleticism to defend multiple places on the floor.

This commitment is third for the Bulldogs in the class and their first on the perimeter. He is joined by three-star interior prospects Andrew Chrabascz and Nolan Berry.

Look for Castro to come in and challenge for a starting spot from day one as the Bulldogs complete their transition to the Atlantic 10 Conference. Recommended Stories
